On April 12, juniors Carson Barnes and Herren Burgess squared off for a debate before the April 13-14 runoff election. Burgess won a plurality of the vote with 39.5 percent, but did not reach the required 40-percent threshold, causing a runoff election with second-place finisher Carson Barnes, who captured 31.3 percent of the vote.
