Red, White, and Bleacher Creatures

Friday, Sep. 9 was a night to remember, the most bleacher creatures in Darlington’s recent history came out. We screamed and chanted louder than we ever have. Red, white and blue flooded the stands after the football players walked on to the field. We lined up and chanted, “I believe that we will win.” Little did we know our beliefs would come true in a few short hours. We rushed to pick out our spots on the bleachers and waited for kick off. We could not believe how many people had rushed over to get in the bleachers with us.
“This year is already so much more exciting than last year in the student section,” said Kathryne Ledbetter a sophomore who was in the student section Friday.
After we screamed at kick off we started yelling cheers with the cheerleaders. A few minutes later, we looked up and the score was 14-0, Heard County. We decided we weren’t going to quit screaming now, it wasn’t even half time. We got louder and louder and even started losing our voices. At halftime, it was tied 14-14, we all grabbed a drink and a snack and came back to the bleachers to finish cheering on our boys. Again, we got louder and before we knew it, we were winning. We did the roller coaster a few times and then after we scored one last touchdown to make the score 28-14, we screamed in excitement.
“I’m pumped for the rest of the season and what all the bleacher creatures will be able to do. I love supporting our boys and hope more people will keep coming,” senior Georgi McCauley said.
