5th Period Art Gallery

The 5th period art class’s gallery is up for anyone to see.

It features this year’s work of all 5th period students. It will be up for at least another week before the closing reception, which will occur on a block day with food provided. Please, take a minute to check out all the pieces while the show is still happening. Below are statements from the artists.

Savannah Sands ’16: “The pieces I chose to display are a conté of a cow skull and a color pencil drawing of Harlan. I don’t hate these, so I chose to display them.”

Alan Shorey ’18: “The pieces I picked for the show are a graphite drawing of Kanye West, a graphite drawing of an old lady, and an acrylic painting of a woman kissing a man made out of newspaper. I chose these because primarily I, quite frankly, am yeezy, and I think these showcase some of my best work, and I believe that the acrylic painting can mean different things to different people.”

Bryson Collier ’18: “The pieces I chose to display are a charcoal reduction of an arrow, and an oil pastel of my dog, Derby. I tried to display my best work rather than displaying some of my subpar, as one might say, work.”

Kenna Wells ’16: “I have on display a charcoal reduction exhibiting a close up image of a face, focusing on the model’s mouth. I chose this work as it is one of my favorite pieces due to the high contrast between the black and white.”

Anthony Dias ’19:  “I chose a mountain display with the moon creeping over the mountain reflecting from a river at dusk for my charcoal reduction and fro my ink painting I decided to illustrate a world war two dogfight in detail of a hurricane plane.”

Sarah Jane Prusakowski ’16: “I chose to display a charcoal of a man’s face and two watercolors, one of a bear and one of a girl. I decided to display these because they were the most finished pieces I had.”

Sophia Firnhaber ’18: “I chose two of my favorite pictures. Both of the pictures are black and white. One of the pictures shows me and my sisters.”

Mar Gabarro Cuadrada ’18: “I chose the charcoal reduction in a form of collage that I did to represent the city of Paris. To make the collage more interesting I used newspaper for a part of my background. I chose this artwork because I found it original and interesting. The other artwork I chose was an autumn painting where I mixed brown and orange colors for the leaves.”

Tammy Yan ’19: “I chose two pieces. One is ink painting of a character. One is a charcoal of a handlebar. I think the ink painting is pretty cool due to the red paint I added.”

Art Fujita ’19: “I have displayed two pictures. One is a landscape of beach at sunset with a multi color scheme. The other one is a leaf that I picked on campus with using brown charcoal.”

George Zhang ’19: I picked two pieces, one of them is an ink painting of clocks and gears with steampunk style, and the other one is an eye drew with black, purple and blue ball point pen.
