When the voting of the first round ended at 8 a.m. on April 24, no candidate had reached the required majority, so now, juniors David Hagler and Sam Tackeberry will compete in a runoff election to see who will become Student Body President. In the first round, Hagler received 23.2% of the vote and Tackeberry received 27%.

Both Tackeberry and Hagler have been student council representatives for the past two years and pledged in their speeches to represent the students and get student imput on their agendas.

“I guess my last message is a quote from my speech that said, ‘I am running to reach solutions,” Tackeberry said.

Similarly, Hagler is looking forward to the positive change this election will bring.

“I’m really grateful for this opportunity so far and regardless the outcome, I’m looking forward to the positive changes that will come about from this election,” Hagler said.
