After Gauntlet, each house faced its greatest fears while devouring different kinds of dishes during our annual Fear Factor competition. This year, the theme was a seven-course French cuisine meal. This included many spinoffs of French food combinations that each of the seven competitors were served. Before the next competitor could open their food box to start eating, the person before them had to finish all theirs and show the judge at each table that they were fully finished. A twist that the hosts added to this year’s Fear Factor was that, instead of one bottle of water per contestant, they were given a single can of ginger-ale.
For the girls, Thornwood House ended up coming in first place in front of Regester and Cooper House finishing in second and last. For the boys, Neville House continues their win streak, with Moser following behind them and Summerbell coming in last.

“I had to eat the sauerkraut and fish sauce combination. I think I did pretty good. I was getting it down, crushing it up. It was horrible, though,” Cooper sophomore Jacey Ward said.
Each of the six houses had to battle its way through seven different dishes, one for each contestant.
“I ate a cup of water down blue cheese with three cherries and a sardine, and I did amazing. This is my first year of Fear Factor, and I would definitely do it again,” Moser sophomore Sameer Elkhatib said.
The Neville boys pushed through each dish and finished strong, allowing them to add six more points to their overall score. This result leaves Neville in first place with a total of 27 points, with Thornwood and Cooper creeping up behind them, tied with 16 points each.
“I am in Neville House, and I had to eat a head of lettuce. I thought it was pretty good. I got jaw cramps, but it was just a pretty yummy salad. I think we got six points because Summerbell threw up twice, and Moser was too slow. Last year, I had wings, and they were really good, too,” Neville junior Cooper Laliberte said.
Some of the other dishes were yogurt and grasshoppers, mayonnaise with sprinkles and cherries, a sleeve of saltine crackers, and finally, amuse-bouche, a French dish that combined a bunch of different flavors into one bite.

“I had yogurt and grasshoppers. They were disgusting. I definitely gagged more than I thought I would. We did horrible, but that’s okay,” Cooper sophomore Mae Holland Spence said.
A notable moment not from a winning house but a spirited one was when Moser senior Wyatt “Swamp” Wood, finished his meal and in celebration chugged a gallon of sweet tea and poured it on his head. Although that didn’t score them a first place finish, it certainly made every other house turn their heads.
“We’re gonna win next year, too. Overall experience this year for Fear Factor is 11 out of 10,” Laliberte said
