Atlas Kosedag: The New Student Council President

Atlas Kosedag: The New Student Council President

This year, Junior Atlas Kosedag was the winner of the student council president election. Kosedag received over 50% of the vote, firmly establishing him as the victor and eliminating the need for any runoffs.

The student council president is responsible for representing the student body and leading discussions on problem-solving in the student council. “I feel like he’s[Student Council President] an advocate for the people and just wants to do the best for everybody,” senior and ex-candidate Jeremy Charles said.

Atlas Kosedag ran for election on the campaign promise of listening to students and making them feel heard. “My overall promise is just listening to students, and [I would like to be] someone that people can come to and talk to. That’s my goal, that’s what I want to be,” Kosedag said.

Kosedag has some other plans for his term as well. He desires to introduce Rumpus minigames throughout the year to familiarize students with Rumpus and for ‘birthday celebrations’ to unite students.

“I was talking about a monthly birthday celebration just to bring students and born students together in the lunchroom, you know, give them common ground,” Kosedag said.

Kosedag has also worked with the previous president, Oliver Liu, to help him adjust to the student council president role. “He talked to me about what ideas he had and what he wasn’t able to get to, and so I just took note of those, you know, I’m trying to follow and whatever,” Kosedag said.

“I’m super excited and … a lot of my close friends are on the student council, and I’m excited to see what we can come up with and what we can accomplish,” Kosedag said.
