Students at Darlington from grades 9-12 participated in “Rhyme Without Reason” this Wednesday for homecoming spirit week.

Students were asked to dress up for “Rhyme Without Reason,” meaning they had to dress up as things that rhymed but did not correlate at all.

For instance, “Smurf and Surf” or “Scooby-Doo and Winnie the Poo” Darlington senior Luke Mahoney participated on Wednesday, dressing as “Cowboy” while his friend David Edwards dressed as “Doughboy.” He threw his outfit together using articles of clothing right from home.

“I went in my closet and I looked through what clothes I had,” Mahoney said. “I picked the ones I liked and then put them on. It made me feel like a cowboy.”

Darlington senior Alex Tran dressed as “Frat Bro” while her friend Abigail Baggett dressed as “Tennis pro.” They received their inspiration from social media.

“We saw it on TikTok and I thought it was funny,” Tran said. “I stole my brother’s old button-down shirt and I’m just wearing a hat.”
