Spring Break vacations and plans revealed from students

March 7 through the 17 is a break that many have been looking forward to. Spring Break is a time to relax and take time off from stressful school work. Many students have big plans for traveling this next week, while others plan to rest and relax at home, and others, like boarding students, plan to go home if they are capable.

“I’m a boarding student from Shenjin, China, so I can only go home during Christmas and Summer break because of how long the flight is and it wouldn’t be worth the time. I’m not able to go home, but I do have plans to visit Rhode Island to meet up with friends and some family as well,” junior Annika Kuo said.

While some borders are not able to make the long trip home during this relatively short amount of time, many of them are able to meet up in the middle and still spend time with family. Although other students take this time to vacation in various places with friends.

“I am traveling to Portugal and England with Bennett Brearley. I am excited to spend more time with my friends over break and, of course, see more of the European culture and just take a break from school and the workload,” said freshman Ronik Patel.

Students are excited about not only having a break from school, tests and homework, but also about their vacation spots. Popular vacation spots include the Caribbean and many places around Europe.

“I’m most excited about getting some warm weather and sun. My family and other family friends and I are traveling to Turks and Caicos over break,” junior Sara Shropshire said. “I think most students are very ready for the break because academic stress can be a lot on top of sports, so personally, I think that our early break compared to other schools is good for us.”

Our break is early compared to most schools, although we do not have other breaks that the other schools in our area have. One of the breaks that’s controversial is having a fall break; most schools in our area have a week-long fall break, while we do not.

“I think a fall break would be very helpful. The pros of having a break are more time to adjust. People with jet lag could get more time to adjust to the time zone. Although with no break, you get to socialize with people and make new friends, also to adapt to the new environment and get a good routine down,” junior Annika Kuo said.
