The football team traveled to Augusta, Georgia to the school of Aquinas where the team played in the first round of the playoffs. Unfortunately they lost and are out of the playoffs, but also some of our players were injured in the game as well. The football team had an overall good season with close games, loses, and wins.
“We lost 52 to 21, I think we could have tackled better and played more as a team in the second half. The position I was playing was running back in the game,” sophomore Levi Duggan said. “The coaches weren’t mad because it was our last game of the season, they were just like next season we have got to work harder. Also the seniors played a big role, but we have a lot of juniors that will be seniors next year that have played a lot of games, so it won’t be too big of an issue them leaving. We could have won more games than we did, but we played good.”
Along with how Duggan feels his fellow teammate junior Nate Kunczewski had a lot of similar opinions about this season and how they played all together as a team.
“The team did all right, but it was a tough season and we were in a tough region,” Kunczewski said. “We will have a new region next year, but I think we did all right for what region we were in. The coaches weren’t too mad, they are ready for next year, and we have a lot of guys coming back.”
The football team felt for the circumstances they did well. Many shared that the coaches weren’t mad, simply ready to get prepared for next season but one of their other teammates have more of a detailed example of some of the problems that lead to this lose.
“I liked our effort all around, the main problem was the other team was just better than us,” junior Bodie Powers said. “The coaches were disappointed in us. For a better result I think we could have gone to a three man front on defense, and I think we could have spread the ball out a lot better on offense, but we also didn’t take care of the ball when we had the chances too, all of these things also lead to failure throughout this game. We also have got to stop fumbling and quit turning the ball over.”
