The Darlington junior varsity football team traveled to Chattanooga to face off against Trion high. This was a highly anticipated game because just last Friday, Darlington’s varsity team beat Trion’s varsity 35-31 in an epic clash for four quarters. The game was filled with excitement, nerve wracking feelings and joy for most of the fans of Darlington. The tigers pulled off a 7-0 victory with many touchdowns called back.

Sophomore Kolin Rogers was the workhorse for the tigers Thursday evening. He ran in two touchdowns in the first half that were called back. However, in the final quarter, he ran in a 67-yard touchdown which locked down their victory.

“It was really frustrating during the game because it seemed like every time we got in the end zone, the referees called it back. I kind of got mad during the third touchdown called back, but I just said whatever,” running back Rogers said. “The coaches remained calm during the game, which was shocking, and the team battled very hard to keep them out of the endzone.”

In the final minutes of the game, junior cornerback Casey Zazzaro intercepted Trion’s quarterback to end their drive.

“When I saw the ball in the air, all I thought was, ‘I can not let the receiver catch it.’ When I came down with the ball, I was just overjoyed because it was my first interception,” Zazzaro said.
