Changes to RUMPUS 2016

There have been many changes to RUMPUS this year.

The first change is that Fear Factor is changing into the “Hunger Games.” This year, instead of eating gross food that makes everyone sick, it will be a bigger quantity that should be eaten very quickly.

Another change is the “Build It” competition is going to require building a chariot ahead of time and racing them around the quad. There is a $40 budget for each chariot and each house must have two chariots. Each team will consist of three pullers with one rider. Points will be awarded separately for girls’ and boys’ houses. Teams will be awarded points in four categories (race, design, creativity/costumes and spirit for the spectators). First place is worth 30 points, second place is worth 20 points and third place is worth 10 points. There will be five points deducted each time a passenger falls out of the chariot. Only one chariot per house can place in each category.

This year, Trivia is going to be DarFeud (Family Feud). Each house will play all the other houses once (five rounds). A survey was sent out earlier this week and players will have to guess the top six answers from the original survey. The winner of each round will receive points and the house with the most points at the end wins.

There will be no Gender-Bender this year. “We have plenty of other things on our plate,” Ms. Dana Peek, Dean of Students, said. She went on to explain that no disrespect is intended towards gender identity so, by eliminating Gender-Bender, misinterpretation is also eliminated.

Lip Sync will be on Friday this year because there is no basketball game on Friday. Dodgeball will take place after Saturday’s basketball game.
