One of the many events of RUMPUS weekend includes Gauntlet, which challenged the best athletes from each of their houses to push their limits in a tough workout event. This event took place at 3 p.m. on Jerry Sharp field while other obstacles and stations were placed in the weight room. With a combination of heavy lifting, cardio sprints and grueling obstacles, this event is infamous for testing both physical and mental endurance.

This event was split into two different parts: endurance and strength. Scoring was split between girls and boys houses. Cooper House earned a total of six points and won out of the girls houses. Moser House earned a six points and won for the boys houses.

“I have done Gauntlet for the past three years that I have been here. Each year is different workouts, but this year was extremely intense and hard at times. In the end and looking back though, it can be super rewarding in many ways. The friends and spirit for your team are really cool,” Thornwood junior Finely Pilgrim said.

Though the event left participants drenched in sweat and exhausted, the sense of accomplishment made every ounce of effort worth it. This event can be hard, but it is one of the most exciting and thrilling events that RUMPUS has.

“This was my first year ever doing Gauntlet, so I didn’t really know what to expect. I knew it would be hard, but this was a very intense workout that anyone would think is challenging. My team finished strong, and with my teammates support, I got through it,” Thornwood freshman Madeline Baggett said.
