Family+Game+Night

Family time is always better when games are involved, especially if your family is fond of friendly competition.

Listed below ten card and boardgames sure to create a fun-filled family game night.

1. Phase 10

Phase 10 is a great family game meant for 2-6 players. The object of the game is to be the first player to complete 10 phase sequences after being dealt a hand of cards.

2. Speak Out Game

The Speak Out Game brings friends and families together as they are doubled over with laughter as players try and say different phrases while wearing a mouthpiece that won’t allow them to shut their mouth.  Players draw cards from the deck which have phrases on them which they must try and say with their mouthpiece in.  If their team guesses what the player is trying to say correctly before time runs out, then that team gets to keep the card.  At the end of the game, the team with the most cards win.

3. Apples to Apples

This game is perfect for parties as it provides fun for up to 4 to 10 players.  One player is named the judge and he/she reads off a card with an adjective on it.  Cards are dealt out to the other players with nouns on them and those players have to choose a card out of their hand that they believe best matches the adjective.  Once they choose their card, the judge decides which card best fits their adjective. If the judge picks your card, you win that round; the goal is to win the most rounds.

4. HedBanz Game

The HedBanz Game comes with a stack of picture cards, each featuring an animal, food or common object which the player straps on their head, using a headband, for their team to see. The player has no clue what is on their forehead.  The categories are very simple which allows kids to join in on the fun. Racing against the one minute timer, the goal is for the player to guess as many objects on his forehead as possible before the timer runs out.

5. Pie Face!

If you have no intention of being splatted on your face by whipped cream, then this is not the game for you.  This game is hilarious as everyone is bound to get splatted.  Just put some whipped cream on the “hand”of the game unit, start turning the handles, and cross your fingers that you do not get “pied in the face.”  You score a point for every time you turn a handle and do not get pie-faced.  The first player to 25 points wins the game.

6. UNO

UNO is a great and easy game to play at parties or family gatherings for people of all ages.  The goal of the game is to get rid of all of your cards in your hand and when you only have one card left you must yell out “UNO”!

7. Jenga

Jenga is a game of mental and physical skill.  Jenga engages players of all ages as the goal is simply to stack blocks.  Players take turns to remove a block from a tower and rebalance it on the top which creates a taller but less stable structure.  The player who causes the structure to fall loses.

8. Guesstures

This game is exactly like Charades, except even faster.  The active player gets four cards which have two words on them, one easy and one difficult.  He/she has about a minute to communicate the words to teammates and the goal is to complete as many words as possible.  At the end of the game, the team with the most points wins.
