Confluence Rome

Confluence Rome

Confluence Rome is an event organized in partnership with Rome’s Chamber of Commerce to inspire and motivate business leaders, technologists, educators, entrepreneurs and students. Darlington’s Robotics Team attended the convention and listened to different speakers who specialize in various fields.

There were a number of talks, but the most memorable were talks about virtual reality, augmented reality and 3D modeling,” junior JayJay Ugbe said.

Students were introduced to the application of advanced technology in the future.

One of the speakers talked about 3D printers and how they are becoming the future of industry, homes, and even hospitals. It was interesting due to the fact that in the near future, I could be printing out my own food, tools and design at my own house,” junior Omar Hamad said.

The convention was also an opportunity for students to go deeper into different technology subjects.

“My favorite speaker was a guy who talked about 3D modeling because I got to learn much about a subject I am very passionate about,” Ugbe said.

Confluence has encouraged students to open up and take a look at multiple careers along with the interaction with experts in each field.

“The subject matter of the convention was definitely more in line with the educational basis of the Robotics team than with any other program at Darlington,” Ugbe said. “It is also a great way to connect with the tech and business community in Rome.”

Confluence Rome left a great impact on Darlington’s Robotics Team.

“The convention drew a large crowd of citizens and I think it opened their eyes to possibilities they could only dream of like it did to me,” junior Kathryn Chunn said.
