Tri for the Kids

April 30th was the Tri for the Kids race. This race allows 165 athletes to compete and raise money for the local Boys and Girls club. There are five divisions for the race. There is the normal event with various age divisions and then there is the Challenger Division which is for kids that are overcoming and fighting through some kind of disability.

“My favorite part of the TFTK is always seeing all the athletes so proud! They have accomplished a lot by swimming, biking and running and I love seeing them with a huge smile crossing the finish line. I also love the Challenger Division of the race,” Beth Smith said. These kids have not been able to have a race experience like this and watching them overcome their disability and complete a triathlon is amazing!”

The event brings in from a wide range of places, as well as many people to participate in the event. 165 athletes from Rome, Dalton, Atlanta, Chattanooga and surrounding areas competed.

“Tri for the Kids has always been a big deal and matters to everybody, but there can always be change. We always would love to have more participation. More racers equals more money we can donate to The Boys and Girls Clubs of NW GA and they are such a deserving organization,” Smith said. “I want to be able to continue to provide lots of support to them. So next year as this event comes around consider helping other people in need.”
