President Trump’s first month in office
In Donald Trump’s first week of being president he set goals of what he wanted to do, and he has at least 17 different actions that he has signed. On his first day President Trump said he wouldn’t consider Inauguration Day his “day one,” that it would be the following Monday because he didn’t want to mix up document-signing with celebrations. On Inauguration Day, President Trump did sign one action: the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
After this, Trump named Jan. 20 as the National Day of Patriotic Devotion “in order to strengthen our bonds to each other and to our country, and to renew the duties of Government to the people.” President Trump also signed a waiver reinstating what Former president Ronald Reagan signed, the Mexico City Policy, which prevents foreign non-governmental organizations from receiving U.S. government funds if they perform or promote abortions for family planning. Trump also signed the Dakota Access Pipeline, which is to advance construction of the pipeline, a project the Obama administration’s halted by not approving an easement needed for the pipeline to cross under Lake Oahe in North Dakota.
After this, Trump signed probably one of his biggest: The Border Wall. Trump signed an executive order to propel his big campaign promise of building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. With some of the acts that President Trump has signed, I think his first month as president was really good because he is controlling our borders, and he also moved the Dakota Access Pipeline 70 miles away from its original location to save the Native American grounds.
He also signed an executive order requiring that for every new regulation written in his administration, two should be repealed. But despite this rule, the White House also issued additional guidelines to implementing it that should make it more manageable. On Feb 14, Trump signed his first major bill, eliminating a controversial rule requiring oil and gas companies to disclose payments to foreign governments.
