Miju Obanikoro ’17: Branching Out

Senior Miju Obanikoro is on stage every winter showing off her many talents. She is running on the campus with the cross country team or showing off her top speed on the track in the spring.

“My years at Darlington have been amazing. I’ve made life-long friends here and I’ve gotten to explore my talents in this school and that means so much to me. At Darlington, I’ve grown so much, my freshman year is nothing compared to who I am today,” Obanikoro said.

Obanikoro wants to live in the moment and experience high school for herself in its fullest.

“I want to live in the moment more and experience Darlington to the fullest because in our years of high school, we tend to focus on when we’re getting out rather than what’s happening around us. Instead of hearing about what goes on around me, I want to see it for myself if that makes sense and really be a part of this community,” Obanikoro said.

Though she has matured during her time at Darlington, her spirit remains in tact.

“I’ve learned responsibility, I’m more mature but I still have the happy spirit of a freshman. I’m always happy and people tell me that being around me lifts their spirits,” Obanikoro said. “Also some people think I’m quiet or low key but in all reality, I’m not quiet at all! I’m actually loud (not loud annoying) and playful but only people that know me well would know that.”
