On May 3, Darlington residential life celebrated 100 years of boarding with dinner and activities. Events included ax-throwing, a petting zoo, inflatables a barbecue on the patio and more.
However, the event was disrupted by the unexpected presence of rain. Many activities were outside, and the number of activities decreased due to the rain. To some people in attendance, it was not that exciting.
“I feel like the 100 years event was okay, but it honestly was not too exciting to me because we didn’t have a lot of events,” junior Hank Xue said.
In the end, the celebration was mostly the dinner.
“I went to the event, it was okay, we had a nice dinner in the student center, and all the teachers were there,” freshman Yonah Banda said. “They set up outside events, but I think they canceled because of the rain.”
“It felt more like just a fancy group dinner. Me and my friends went to the student center and hung out with the food. We didn’t really do anything special,” senior Matthew Wang said.
Even though the 100 years of boarding was supposed to be a fun event, students instead found themselves bored. Despite the fun set-up for them, they could not use them due to rain.
“I feel like it was a bit boring, nothing really happened. They got all these bouncy castles and stuff set up, but we can’t even really use them,” sophomore Moanna Maynard said.
