The opening baseball game for the Darlington Tigers could have gone better against Model. The team lost 11-3. Players and coaches have set a plan and made priorities to improve this season after what they have learned.
Players on the team reflected on what went wrong during their opening game.
“We took a tough loss,” freshman Evan Parton said. “We had a few rough innings at the start once they got out to an early lead and we could never close the gap.”
The baseball team plans to continue practicing pitching and to make it a strong suit of the team.
“Baseball pitching is always the key,” coach Chad Woods said.
The team is aware of the things they need to work on and how to improve.
“We struggled with a lot of things,” junior pitcher Joshua Butler said. “We are trying to bounce back strong for the next game.”
Overall the team is still in high spirits and they are looking forward to more upcoming games. They plan to practice and continue to build solid skills to come out with a good season.
