The soccer season is underway, with 2 exciting games played on Monday, Feb. 6. The girls’ team lost 1-0 and the boys’ team won 4-1 with a hat-trick from sophomore Ade Desalu.
“This game brought up our morale and gave us a good start to the season,” Desalu said. “I hope we can carry this momentum into our next game against Armuchee on Wednesday.”
The boys avenged their loss with a 4-1 win. The team put on a show against Adairsville, with a higher possession percentage, and more shots on goal; and they certainly got their reward for that, scoring 4 goals, with Desalu dropping a masterclass of 3 goals. This was accompanied by a goal from his ‘striker duo’, senior Timofe Anthony-Sawyerr.
“We went into the game confident, we performed well, but we could’ve done better,” junior Femi Ajiboye said. “However, we’re fixing our mistakes in preparation for a more challenging game against Armuchee on Wednesday.”
The team’s morale is up, and they have a positive outlook for the rest of their season.
“The team is very confident, but we’re doing our best to stay humble, lock in, and work hard so that we don’t lose our heads,” Ajiboye said. “We’ve seen what everyone is capable of and we want to keep our standards high.”
