Varsity Football Team Defeats Gordon Lee

The Tigers varsity football team picked up a crucial win against regional opponent and rival Gordon Lee, 50-17. The players were satisfied with their win.

“Gordon Lee is one of our biggest rivals and we came out and played our hardest, and our hard work paid off,” freshman wide receiver Casey Gunn said. “It was a hard fought game.”

Highlights included a pick-six by junior inside linebacker Rhett McDurmon, a 49-yard touchdown run for senior running back Tijai Whatley, and five touchdown passes by sophomore quarterback Griffin Brewster.

“The line played great, receivers made some great catches, and the coaches had great play calls that drew the defense under so we could hit some deep balls. I’m really proud of my team,” Brewster said. “The Gordon Lee game was a really fun game to play in. I feel like we played as a unit and in the end, we came out on top.”

Fans were pleased with not only the game, but the overall atmosphere of the stadium.

“The energy was exuberant, tremendous support from the fans, stadium band was starting to get back into the rhythm of playing different songs,” senior David Hagler said.
