American Made Review

missions to Central America during the Cold War. Seal soon finds himself overseeing one of the biggest CIA covert operations in history. During his time flying to Central America, Seal becomes involved in drug trade with the cartel and arms trade with the Contras.

This is one of the most interesting movies based on a true story I have ever seen. It was so interesting to see that something like this could actually happen throughout so many different administrations.

Though based on a true story, American Made is definitely an action movie, not a documentary. The film does take a few liberties, but there is no doubt that Barry Seal is extremely hard core. It’s hard not to enjoy Tom Cruise’s portrayal of Barry Seal as a charismatic and likeable guy.

During his time with the CIA, Seal’s path crosses with Ronald Reagan, Pablo Escobar and Manuel Noriega. His relationships with the powerful men are fascinating, especially considering that he is a common denominator in the Iran-Contra Affair that almost toppled the Reagan White House.

This movie is extremely entertaining, made more so by knowing that it is based on real events (even if it may be loosely). I would give this movie a 4.5/5.
