Mathew McConnell ’17: Living His Passion
Senior Matthew McConnell has been a committed photographer for all of his years a Darlington and plans on continuing to do his passion his last year at Darlington and in the future.
“Primarily my after school activities at Darlington have been doing photo and video work over the past three years for the Darlingtonian,” McConnell said .”I plan on being a professional photographer, and being able to run my own work schedule and not have to listen to anybody else.”
McConnell said he plans on working on his photography skills at either Georgia College or Belmont University because they have photography and video programs there.
“Most of the stuff I do is more related to marketing and stuff like that people would watch to market a product,” McConnell said. “Like if you watch a commercial for an Adidas cleat and things like that”.
McConnell believes that Darlington has really helped his passion for photography.
”Darlington has really reinforced my passion for photography, having the ability to get nice equipment and being able to use it is great,” McConnell said. “It’s given me access to whatever I need or want for photography and we can film pretty much anything.”
McConnell’s favorite work he’s done so far on the Darlingtonian was the “Awakening” video for the summer football practices.
“Probably the “Awakening” trailer for football was my favorite thing I’ve done so far, it was hard I spent the whole summer doing it,” McConnell said. “I had about eight hours of video and I cut it down to four minutes.”
