This coming summer is going to be a summer of potentially historic movies, stretching all the way from Disney animations to Jurassic Park horror. Some of the movies to look forward to this summer are the Lilo and Stitch live action, F1, Jurassic World Rebirth, Smurfs, Happy Gilmore 2 and Freakier Friday (in chronological order). However, I have a different order for the movies I most excited about down the movies I am least excited about. My order is, F1, Lilo and Stitch, Jurassic World Rebirth, Happy Gilmore 2, Smurfs and then Freakier Friday.
1. The F1 movie staring Brad Pitt will be released on June 27. The same director of Top Gun: Maverick, Joseph Kosinski, is directing this movie as well. The plot is that Sonny Hayes, a retired driver was hired by a struggling F1 team to return to his old racing days. This movie will have a running time of two hours exactly and will be rated PG-13. I am most excited about this movie because I enjoy watching the sport and I also believe that Brad Pitt will do a great job acting as a race car driver.
2. Lilo and Stitch is being released to theaters on May 23. This new live action movie is a remake of the original Lilo and Stitch animation, which was released in 2002. The movie has a total running time of one hour and 48 minutes and has a rating of PG. This movie is supposed to be a comedy and cute movie that will appeal to all ages and make them laugh. This movie is a close second to the F1 movie because I love the original movie.
3. Jurassic World Rebirth will be released on July 2, 2025. A summary is that Zora Bennett, played by Scarlett Johansson, will lead a group of skilled researchers to Isla Sauna to retrieve dinosaur DNA that can save mankind. Johnathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali will also be staring in this movie alongside Johansson. This movie has a running time of two hours and 14 minutes and a rating of PG-13. Jurassic World Rebirth is third because I know that I will enjoy watching the movie but I am more excited for Lilo and Stitch and F1.
4. Happy Gilmore 2 will be swinging into the theaters on July 25. In this movie there will be many familiar faces returning to the screen. Adam Sandler, Julie Bowen, Dennis Dugan, Christopher McDonald, and Ben Stiller will be returning as their same characters from the original movie. Although we do not yet know the running time for Happy Gilmore 2, we know that it will be rated PG-13. Happy Gilmore 2 is in fourth place because I never finished watching the first movie so I do not really know how good the first one is. However, from what I watched, it is a really funny movie so I am still excited for it to come to the theaters.
5. The new Smurf movie is coming to theaters on July 18. In this movie, Papa Smurf has been taken by evil wizards and the other Smurfs must embark into the real world in order to save Papa Smurf’s life. With Rihanna staring as Smurfette and John Goodman as Papa Smurf, the question is will this movie sink or swim? This movie’s running time is one hour and 43 minutes and it is likely to be rated PG. Smurfs is in fifth place and not higher because it is a children’s movie. I am somewhat excited for it because I grew up watching the other Smurf movies.
6. Freakier Friday will be released in the late summer, coming to theaters on August 8. Although we do not know much about this film, we know that this movie will be a fantasy and a comedy film. We do know that it will have a running time of one hour and 54 minutes and an age rating of PG. I am the least excited about this movie because I did not enjoy the first movie and I do not think that I will like Freakier Friday.
