The new Snow White Disney movie was released in theaters on March 21, 2025. Snow White stars Rachel Zegler as Snow White, Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, and Andrew Durnap as Johnathan the prince. This movie, despite being what you’d think is a classic, has received horrible ratings, it currently has a 1.4 out of five stars from 300,00 online reviews and a 42% on Rotten Tomatoes. Snow White has scored the lowest out of any live-action Disney film. Not only that, but the movie caused Disney to lose $115M, and on top of that, the movie never sold out. The hate toward the movie is more hate toward the actress Rachel Ziegler. She said that she would ‘not star in a film with a princess who was saved by the prince.’ Some say that if that is what she thought then she should not have auditioned for the part in the first place. In an interview, she said that all of Durnap’s scenes could be cut out.
In this movie Snow White gets her name not from her skin that’s as fair as snow. Her parents gave it to her because as a child she survived a snow storm. In the original movie, she has the title “fairest of the land” because of her fair skin once again. However, in the live-action remake she acquires this title because she treats all of the people of her land equally, not because of her skin being fair.
To contrast, the new Minecraft movie stars Jason Momoa, Jack Black, Emma Myers, Jennifer Coolidge, Sebastian Eugene Hensen and Danielle Brooks. The Minecraft movie comes into theaters on April 4, 2025. Globally the Minecraft movie has made a profit of 313 million dollars since being released with the budget of only 50 million dollars. On the first night available to see the movie, all of the tickets were sold out at Movies at Berry Square.
A summary of the movie is that a mysterious portal opens in a mine shaft and four people get sucked into the portal. They have to fight many different and odd creatures to work their way back to their home. Some of those creatures are skeletons, creepers, piglins, zombies and an Enderman, all which are notable parts of the famous video game.
The big question is whether or not the Snow White and Minecraft movie is the new Barbie and Oppenheimer movie. Barbie and Oppenheimer made 2.3 billion dollars combined while Snow White and Minecraft have only 469.6 million dollars. This proves that Barbie and Oppenheimer were a bigger hit than the new Snow White and Minecraft movies, however, as time passes “Snowcraft” may become just as memorable for its infamous quotes and media.
