The third in this series, a guide to all things grooming, will help you narrow down or even decide how you want to look for this year’s upcoming prom!
Makeup:
Makeup is one of my favorite parts of getting ready for prom. Whether you’re getting it done by a professional, or doing it yourself, knowing how you like it is key to loving your look. If you’re wearing cooler tones in your dress likes blues, blacks, greens or purples, I would recommend a cooler toned makeup look. A light smokey eye or a darker one with chiseled but blended contour and a glowy base. I personally love the LYS Contour Stick, no matter what look I’m doing. If you’re wearing a warmer toned dress, I would do a warm brown look. Adding in warmer shades, like the one you sued for your bronzer can help tie the look together. Skin prep is also extremely important. Making sure your base is well moisturized and bright looking can really change the way your makeup looks and how long it lasts.
Hair:
Prom hair is also another fun part of the getting ready process. Culture tells you that depending on the neckline of your dress, your hair has to be a certain way. I think that you should style it however you’re most comfortable. I usually just style my hair in loose waves or curls, parted down the middle. I have done a ponytail before and I also really liked that, too. If you have a high neck dress, I would definitely lean towards a ponytail, or something pulled back and off the shoulders. If you want to get your hair done, there are many salons that you can book appointments at that will give you exactly what you’re looking for!
Nails:
Prom nails are a fun way to really express your fun side and get out of your comfort zone! A simple and classy french tip, or a white nail is always acceptable. It’s definitely more low-key but still cute nonetheless. I, personally, have always matched my nails to the color of my dress, or to one of the colors in it. I find that it kind of ties the whole look together and makes everything look matched together. For boarding and some day students, there are different nail salons to go to. My personal favorite is Nails Studio beside Firehouse Subs. They personally always do the best nails for me. If you’re also looking to do nail art, I would also recommend them too.
