The controversial debate between Moe’s Southwest Grill, Dos Bros Fresh Mexican Grill, and Chipotle Mexican Grill has been argued by many people in the community. The three Mexican Restaurants are a staple of fast food in Rome. While Chipotle is thought to be the industry leader with over 3500 locations across the United States, Moe’s and Dos Bros have attracted dedicated customers. Sophomore day student Cooper Norris, sophomore resident student Evan Parton, and senior day student Chandler Bagby share about their favorite restaurant and why they enjoy it.
“I put Moe’s in the one spot because the quality of the food, the quantity of the portion sizes, for me it just has everything, it fills all the boxes of a great Mexican restaurant,” Norris said. “It just hits closer to home because whenever my brother would come into town we would always go to Moe’s. I love Mexican food and especially the Mexican fast food restaurants because I can get it quick and it’s pretty cheap.”
When going to a fast food place, good customer service is always needed to have a good experience. Senior Chandler Bagby shares on his experiences with customer service and how that affects his choices.
“Customer service is a big part of the restaurant experience for me, when I go to Moe’s I get a good welcome and it always just brightens my day when they say ‘Welcome to Moe’s’. Chipotle just is not the same for me, they just do not have a special greeting or a good environment,” Bagby said. “Moe’s is like an old friend, it has always been there for me when I am down, and really hungry, or wanting a burrito. I just go to Moe’s. Dos Bros also has a good environment though, I like how everyone is always upbeat and I like the natural lighting because it really just brightens my mood.”
From the student feedback, Moe’s is a very popular option and checks many boxes. Another factor that influences the popularity of a Mexican fast food restaurant is the price. If a restaurant is too expensive without the quantity of food deserved by the price, then that spot will not be as popular as other places. Parton shares how the price of the certain items on the menu of restaurants determine how often he goes there.
“I put Moe’s as my one spot because the price has been consistent through the years, inflation has not really struck there as much as most places like Chipotle, where I run through my whole monthly allowance on a cheese quesadilla,” Parton said. “I would not consider Moe’s cheap but it is definitely a better financial option than Dos Bros and Chipotle. Even though Dos Bros is more expensive, I think they have a better quality quesadilla, the chicken, the cheese, everything is just better and I think it is worth the price.”
