Wonder Review
Wonder is based on a book by the same name. It is the story of a boy, Auggie, who has a facial deformity that has kept him from going to school. We meet Auggie before he enters fifth grade and his first ever day of “normal school.” As Auggie enters school, his new classmates struggle to accept Auggie, but through his humor and perseverance, Auggie begins to win them over.
Throughout Wonder, we get to hear from many of the people that surround Auggie, which makes it easy to see how his situation affects so many people. It does a great job of showing how everyone has their own struggles, but that your personal struggles shouldn’t keep you from choosing kindness.
As a big fan of the book, I was very worried that the movie would not carry the rawness of the book, but I was pleasantly surprised. I found myself laughing and crying my way through the entire movie.
Wonder is the kind of movie that everyone needs to see. I would give Wonder 5/5 stars.
