“Heart of Dixie” Will Steal Your Heart

Hart of Dixie, which now airs on both Netflix and Hulu, is the definition of “feel good” TV.

Zoe Hart (Rachel Bilson) is a materialistic New York doctor who believes that she has it all figured out- after graduating at the top of her class from medical school she will follow in her father’s footsteps to become a cardio-thoracic surgeon. However when her dreams fall apart, Zoe decides to accept an offer from a total stranger, Dr. Harley Wilkes, to work with him at his small family practice in Bluebell, Alabama. Zoe sets out on this new adventure to Bluebell, only to realize that Dr. Wilkes has died and left half of the small family practice to her in his will.

Following Zoe’s transition from New York living to southern living is hysterical. You are sure to fall in love with the town of Bluebell as well as the fun and loving southerners living in it. Watching Hart of Dixie truly makes me proud to live in the South. The people of Bluebell portray the best hospitality and truly pull together as a family in times of need. The show is filled with lots of laughter and love that will truly make your day.

Not ashamed to say I have re-watched this show three times. I love dramas such as Grey’s Anatomy- but sometimes Grey’s leaves me pretty depressed, but Hart of Dixie always lifts my spirits. Grey’s Anatomy is also filled with many gruesome and violent medical problems, while Hart of Dixie is indeed about a doctor, but the cases are much less violent and much more relatable. I crave the spirit and the mood of the show, which always leaves me in a good mood, which is the reason I can’t stop watching it!

If you’re looking for a break from your run of the mill drama shows, this is the perfect refresher for you. Hart of Dixie is a light and fun show that is a good escape to reality; it will not overwhelm you with drama but has just enough to keep you hooked. I definitely recommend Hart of Dixie for anyone of any age.
