The Irrationals

In a generation
Where parental separation
Is more common than precipitation
Where the youth lack imagination
With constant procrastination
To stay truly humble
This is my constant struggle

In a day and age
Where you’re judged gay or straight
Blacks yet to break the cage
Whites yet to flip the page
Policies based on senseless rage
To stay truly humble
This is my constant struggle

In a leap of faith
We tend to take the bait
Corruption caught awfully late
Death rises with sudden rate
Minds seem to shut the gate
To stay truly humble
This is my constant struggle

In a world where it’s give or take
Murder Murder Rape
Loved ones hearts seem to break
We burn the bright ones at stake
Please end this for goodness sake
To stay truly humble
This is my constant struggle

In a life filled with misery
We seem to shrug the history
And take words and definitions literally
And only seem to connect physically
With the world’s profound mystery
To stay truly humble
This is my constant struggle

In a world filled with sex
Man kind will survive of these 3 steps
Man kinds will to procreate we bless
Man kinds constant fear of death
Man kinds will and hunger to test
To stay truly humble
This is my constant struggle

In a world where I am Trouble
Trapped in a translucent social bubble
I am loud but in moments like this mumble
The anxiety of life gets to me piece by piece I crumble
Only God to reshape the rubble
To stay truly humble
This is the world’s constant Struggle

Analysis

It is truly hard to stay level headed (humble) in a world with all these imperfections and social problems. That with all these problems socially and politically it seems to be shrugged of and tossed aside as soon as new stories comes about. I wrote this poem to express my feeling and concerns to the worlds imperfections also as a call to action for change and recognition. The last stanza talks about all the things I struggle with in life and for the world to try and stay humble watching me fail is impossible.
