Recently, classes and hallways have been taken over by the sound of Clash Royale. As it is seeing a resurgence, Clash Royale and its impact on the community are spreading. Students across the community are creating clans with each other and bonding over this mobile game. The function of the game is that two players battle against each other to try to destroy their towers, and they each have a deck of eight cards to attack. The player with the most out of the three castles destroyed when the time runs out wins, or if someone destroys all three of their opponent’s towers before the timer, then they also win. This game relies on strategy and card levels. The more you play the game, the more you can level up your cards to increase the strength of your deck and your arena to play more challenging opponents. Clash Royale is a big part of the social scene this school year so far because it brings many people together across our student body and provides an avenue for stronger connections between peers.
“I am in a clan called Giddy Clan,” sophomore Andrew Parsa said. “This is a clan mostly of Darlington school students where we fight together, have fun together, and keep everybody united in the clan, and we add any new members who would like to join. We have roughly 40 members in this clan.”
Many people who play this game have been playing it for many years and have put a lot of time and work into this game. If you have not been playing for a good bit of time, your cards will not be a very high-level. To get better at the game, you need to have higher-level cards and an arena because your opponents get better as you increase in level and arena.
“I have been playing this game for almost four years now and it has been on and off but my brother and I started playing a lot more due to many students at Darlington started playing,” junior Jay Watters said. “It is a very good game, and when my brother ans I play I ride his hog into battle and use my log to surpirse attack the enemy.”
Many players use a very different variety of decks which they use to win more and more battles. Some decks are better for different types of things if you want to win really fast some popular examples are: the swarm deck, log bait, hog 2.6, sneaky Gollum and many more decks that many people like to use, depending on their different style.
“A deck that I like to use the 2.6 hog because I can cycle through the deck really fast,” freshman Henry Patel said. “I can place my hog to get chip damage down but sometimes I switch out the ice gum for the sneaky golem. So whenever I am down by a little bit, I hold onto that card until I feel like I need it and I place it in the last few minutes of the game, so my opponent gets surprised, attacked and then my sneaky Gollum does a lot of damage and takes all of their towers.”
This game is very loved by many young and old players. With the game on the rise, there is no telling how much more it will grow.
“This is why we Clash,” Parsa said.
