The 2025 Jabberwokk theme was revealed during advisory on Friday, May 2. The yearbook team has worked vigorously throughout this school year to get this book complete. There are many different people that help to make this yearbook complete, some being the coverage editor Atlas Kosedag, design editor Murray Ellington and social media editor Clara York. During the summer the editors had a few meetings to discuss the theme, they decided on the current theme after talking about other options as well.
“We editors all talk about it in the very beginning of the school year and in the summer too. The past year we had meetings during the summer and we all talked about it. Then we talked about it with the general staff after to see if they liked the ideas,” York said. “They usually all do like it if we have a good place to start, like we did this year.”
The theme “You Will Find Us Here” tells us that Darlington has such a tight nit community and that Darlington has so many different things to offer.
“We came up with the theme early in the summertime after a few meetings, and it really came together through us thinking about what makes Darlington students unique, but also brings us together as a community,” Kosedag said. “Like Charlie [Patel] had stated in our presentation, although all Darlington students may come from all across the globe, you can find us all here, on Darlington’s campus; studying, competing, performing.”
Being the design editor is a very important job. All of the pages and spreads that have to be designed and that all rests on the shoulders of the design editor. This year that was junior Murray Ellington, who is also Moser House head prefect, who learned ot juggle all the responsibilities.
“I was the design editor and I designed every page. So the completion of the Yearbook is vital on my part because if I do not design the page, then we do not have the Yearbook,” Ellington said. “So I made sure to stay on task and get all of my work done on time. I also had to manage the other editor designers who helped me out along the way.”
The theme of a Yearbook must be seen in every single page of the book. Kosedag tell us how the Jabberwokk carried out the theme of “You Will Find Us Here” throughout the entirety.
“We wanted to have the theme appear at various points throughout the book, and we accomplished that in a variety of ways. We used thematic elements, such as topographical lines and circles around faces to tie in maps and highlight specific individuals,” Kosedag said. “On top of that, we had location-based coverage sprinkled across the book, where a mod covered something specific about the location of an activity.“
