Prom is an important annual tradition for high school students, especially Darlington students. This year, the prom was held in the Johnson Field house, per usual. Juniors and seniors are all invited to the prom dance. Most students, after the prom, go to someone’s house and have an afterparty.

Juniors Charlie Jackson and Bryson Jones went to prom this year and were pleased with the dance.

“Prom was fantastic. I really loved the dance this year,” Jackson said.

“I went to prom this year, and I thought this year’s prom was very fun. I really liked the music and dancing that was there,” Jones said.

Each year at prom and homecoming, Darlington provides a DJ for the dance. The DJs always get the students excited and get everyone to start dancing and have a good time. This year’s performer was DJ DLow. He played a variety of music targeted at high school students.

“The DJ this year was really good. I do not know his name, but I really liked what he brought to the prom dance. The music was a good variety, getting everyone to dance and enjoy it,” Jones said.

Many Darlington alumni think prom is one of the most enjoyable Darlington events throughout high school. Prom has been a thing for a long time at Darlington and is one of the most fun events. When asked about the memorable moments this year at prom, Jackson responded with nothing but compliments regarding the dance.

“I would have to say the firework display at the end, the fireworks were really cool, and during prom like the music played was really good. Also, the whole prom setup in the Johnson made it all really really cool,” Jackson said.

After the popular prom dance, most students go to a friend’s house to have an after-party. This is always a really fun and memorable time for students to have fun. Many students throughout the years have had many enjoyable experiences and memories. Jones talks about his afterparty experience.

“This year, I went to an afterparty. I went to Henry Ledbetter’s house after the prom dance, and it was cool and fun. We played games and watched movies, and some people jumped in the pool. We also had a lot of good food, my friends and I had a good time, and I’m glad we had an after-party after prom,” Jones said.
