100% Darlington is a popular Darlington tradition in the second semester. Maddie Chastain and other faculty create these posts that appear on the school’s socials and website. This trend has been going on for years at Darlington. It represents the student and their impact, and is important to many alumni, families and students.
Senior day student Blair Moseley talks about the process of participating in the posts. The faculty is responsible for finding and discovering creative descriptions that rhyme or start with the same words about the student.
“They send out a Google form with a bunch of set questions, and then they take your answers to the questions and pile them up and make descriptions based on your answers,” Moseley said.
The seniors are tasked with assisting the faculty in responding to their forms they send out in the first semester. They have to fill out the form as accurately as possible in regards to their hobbies and interests.
“You are instructed to fill out your hobbies and what Darlington personal means to you and your favorite kind of things,” Moseley said. “This is also a very memorable and consistent tradition, and it is a cool experience to be a senior and go through the process.”
Many behind-the-scenes procedures go into making these posts special and important. There is a long process to gather the information and make sure these posts are real and accurate.
“I sent out a survey to the seniors and once we collect their responses we sent them to the director of communications who pile all the blogs and come up with the percentages, and then my role is scheduling all that on the website and making all the graphics and putting it out on social media,” Chastain said. “The descriptions come directly from the answers of the students on the Google form. The Google form provides a variety of information based on the students.”
The posts provide information and educate the community on the current senior class, and for this year the class of 2025. This is valuable insight to the community about the diverse people who populate our campus. Everyone in the school has different things they enjoy doing and different passions and hobbies. You can visit the school’s website here and their Instagram page here.
“The posts shows every senior and shows everybody all the cool hobbies and interests all of us have,” Moseley said. “It was cool to finally see my post after seeing all the seniors from the past years be posted. I like the descriptions they used for me and I did think they were pretty accurate.”
