D-NOW is a weekend where students from all across Rome come together for a weekend of worship. This year, D-NOW took place from Friday Feb. 21 to Sunday Feb. 23. Many people from the Darlington community are attending D-NOW this year, including junior Gracie Cowan, sophomore Nora Knaak and freshman Wren Booker. This will be Knaak’s second year going to D-NOW, Cowan’s sixth time and Booker’s first time.
Knaak shares what activities take place during the D-NOW weekend. She the also tells us which one speaks to her the most and why it does.
“We have a lot of activities like lip sync and Bigger and Better,” Knaak said. “They are all so fun but lip sync speaks to me the most because it lets me and my friends all have a lot of fun and spend more time with each other.”
This is Cowan’s perspective about the activities during the D-NOW weekend and also shares what her favorite one is and why.
“We have worship and small group sessions and do fun activities during the day like Bigger and Better where you start with a paperclip and trade items to get the biggest one and a lip sync battle,” Cowan said. “Worship speaks to me the most through a sermon and songs that help me recenter my faith.”
Since this is Booker’s first year attending D-NOW, she was asked what inspired her to come to D-NOW this weekend and what she was most excited about.
“I saw how much fun everyone else had and I thought that I should join in on the fun this year,” Booker said. “I am looking forward to growing closer to God and understanding his right and his truth. I am also looking forward to being with my friends this weekend.”
D-NOW is centered on connecting kids to the Lord through each other and through worshiping together. Cowan explains how, over the years, D-NOW has brought her closer to God, even while living a busy life.
“It’s a great time for me to reconnect with God in a busy world and have a weekend dedicated to him,” Cowan said. “It allows me to stay rooted in my faith and be in fellowship with my peers.”
Knaak tells us in details how her relationship grows with the Lord every time that she comes to the D-NOW weekends.
“Worshipping God and talking about him makes me realize how good God is and how much I enjoy praising him,” Knaak said. “I have noticed that each time I attend D-NOW I feel closer and like my relationship is growing with God.”
