The Grammys took place on February 2, in the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles Times, the Grammys were held in Los Angeles in honor of all of the loss and damage happening in the area. There were many memorable moments from this year’s Grammys that you will not be able to forget. Just to name a few, Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish and Charlie XCX were just some of the amazing performances that took place on Sunday evening.
The title of album of the year was given to Beyoncé for her album “Cowboy Carter.” Chappell Roan won the best new artist of the year. Kendrick Lamar won the record of the year with “They Not Like Us.” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short N’ Sweet” album won the best pop culture album of the year. SZA won the best R&B performance with her album “Saturn.”
One of the best moments of the 2025 Grammys was when Chappell Roan gave her speech after she received her award. She gave a heart-warming tribute to the other candidates but she ended with a shocking line. She said, “Labels, we have you, but do you have us?”
Another pure moment was when Doechii shared her “Cinderella Story” with us. She said to all of the black girls watching that nothing is impossible and that “Denial is a River.” Doechii is only the third ever woman artist to win the rap album of the year.
Time.com said that the most energetic performance was a tie between Shakira and Charlie XCX. They also say that the most overdue award given was Beyoncé receiving the album of the year.
However, according to Entertainment Weekly, some of the worst moments in the 2025 Grammys were when Trevor Noah addressed the quiet crowd and when a large graphic took over the left side of the Charli XCX’s screen, ruining the end of her performance. This website also says that another one of the worst moments was when Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift were robbed from the album of the year award.
In between award giving, Trevor Noah announced that the Grammys would be collecting money towards wildfire relief. The fundraiser collected a total of over 24 million dollars, nine million came from the telecast and 15 million dollars came from Grammy related events leading up to the show. This year nearly 15.4 million people watched the Grammys, however last year there were over 16.9 million people who tuned in to watch the Grammys.
