Model UN
The Model UN is a fun way to involve high school kids in world politics. The Model UN consists of students researching, debating, public speaking, writing and critical thinking.
“The whole weekend was really fun and educational in many ways.,” junior Adrian Garpvall said. “We went there on Thursday after school. On Friday was opening ceremony and after that two sessions, everyone with their own committee. On Saturday we did also have two sessions and one additional on Sunday.”
World politics may not always be interesting, but the Model UN makes it fun.
“During my first Model UN conference I learned a lot about the current situation in the world. It was very tense at first but after a few hours I felt more comfortable with the committee,” sophomore Dana Yassin said.
The Model UN was especially a new experience for international students.
“This was my first Model UN outside Sweden and also the first one in English and therefore there were some new words and phrases to learn,” Garpvall said. “I represented Syria in the DISEC committee which was really fun.”
The Model UN is also a great way to socialize and make new friends.
“I met a lot of great new friends and learned a lot about the world. I’d definitely recommend you join MUN, if you’re not in it already,” junior Ansley McCoy said.
The students had a great time at the conference and look forward to future opportunities like this one.
“I think we all had a great time getting to know each other and I can’t wait for next year’s conference,” Yassin said.
