iPeriod: Escape Room
With the growing popularity of escape rooms in the past couple of years, a group of seniors saw an opportunity to bring this trend to the Darlington community. This semester, a new escape room iPeriod was created, which is led by Justin Bruce and sponsored by Abby Sklar and Hillary Tunnell.
“I was on my way to do an escape room with Abby and Ishani this summer, and we were talking about making one,” senior Hillary Tunnell said. “Someone brought up how it would make a great iPeriod.”
The theme of the escape room is called Dar Break. The idea is that students will go to the room next to the Learning Center and solve six puzzles related to each subject. If participants successfully complete the challenge, they will find a code that gives them access to their diploma.
“We are currently figuring out how many puzzles we need, what kind of supplies and what the theme for the room is,” Tunnell said.
An aspect of this iPeriod that sets it apart from others is that students can actually be involved. After the escape room is completed, students will be able to participate in the activity during their free time.
“We’ve been very productive, and I feel like it is one of few that will impact the school as a whole when we open it up to where people can complete it,” Tunnell said.
