Leadership Rome is an organization that allows local students to learn about the Rome Georgia community. Sophomore Molly Ledbetter and junior Myles Twyman are involved in Leadership Rome 2024-2025. Leadership Rome is an organization that young high school students can join. The students go around Rome and experience different Rome businesses and organizations. The goal of the organization is to motivate these young Rome teenagers to consider living here when they grow up. These students are given the opertunity to go from place to place and see the cool places, businesses, restaurants, hotels and other things Rome has to offer. These students are taught about Rome and educated on cool places.
The Leadership Rome team gets the privilege of missing certain days of school to go look at different jobs and businesses in Rome. They often are assigned projects to do.
“We go around Rome, Georgia and listen to people speak about Rome and Floyd County,” Ledbetter said.
“Its purpose is to interact with kids from other schools and learn things about Rome that you may not have known about the great city,” Twyman said.
The students in the Leadership Rome organization are also able participate in enjoyable activities and experience cool things in the community. This year they have a good selection of high school students who get to go do fun things.
“We play games and activities like Pickle Ball and Ultimate Frisbee and went to different businesses to see how they individually contribute to the community,” Ledbetter said.
“The projects change every time, last time we played pickle ball, and ultimate frisbee, and talked about the trails,” Twyman said. “It’s great to go around and meet new people who pride themselves in their jobs and to be able to interact in the community with people. It was such a fun time but it was unfortunate because I had to miss band class.”
Tywman and Ledbetter are in different grades meaning that they experience different things in the Rome community.
“Youth Leadership Rome is awesome, I wish I could do it next year but unfortuantly you can only do it one year in highschool. I would be interested in living in rome when I grow up aswell.” Ledbetter said.
“Me and Molly do some different activities, like his year me and my group went to go do different things. I was paired up with other high school students from Pepperall, Coosa, Rome, Model, Unity, and other local schools.” Twyman said.
