On campus, students spend their free time, specifically office hours and free periods, in a variety of places, the main two being the Cove and Student Center. Most students have a preference for one spot over the other.
“I prefer the cove because it’s outside and you just get to be outside with the weather. The student center has more comfortable chairs, but the cove is outside. I just sit and talk with my friends during my free periods,” junior Cecilia Baggett said.
In addition to being able to converse with you friends in an outdoor space, there are also activities to do with friends when in the Cove.
“I prefer the cove, I think I like the outdoors better, being outside, and playing ping pong outside. I think the indoors are getting a bit old, when we’re sitting in the classroom all day,” senior Murray Ellington said.
Other students agree with Ellington that playing ping pong outdoors, instead of sitting inside all day in classroom, is peaceful.
“I prefer the cove because I feel the student center is just too crowded and I like to be outside. I think the cove has more of a chill atmosphere than the student center. I study with my friends, we’ll play ping pong and just chill,” sophomore Ivey Dunn said.
As nice as it is to take a break in the outdoors, some people prefer an indoor environment with the AC.
“I prefer the student center because the couches are comfortable and the AC feels nice. I feel like the student center has the better vibes,” junior Mckenna Warren said.
In addition to the student center being spacious and having AC, it also tends to be more populated, which extroverted people prefer.
“I prefer the student center because that’s usually where my friends hang out and it’s usually fuller. It has more chairs and places to sit in the student center,” sophomore Audrina McNab said.
Not only is the student center usually filled with furniture and friends, in case you’re hungry, it also has vending machines.
” I prefer the student center so I can see my friends and get work done at the same time. It has vending machines with food and drinks so I also eat there too,” junior Logan Bethel said.
