During assembly on Monday Feb. 9, groups of juniors shared a video revealing the Prom theme, which was revealed to be Enchanted Garden. The adults on the Prom Committee gave the seniors designed cups and official invitations on their way out of the chapel. This year’s Prom will take place in the Johnson on Saturday Apr. 12.
Bradford Middleton is a junior on the Prom Committee, and she made up the entire script for the video that was showed at the Prom theme reveal. Bradford explains the thought behind creating the script and video.
“It started as a joke at first, and then Mrs. Inman liked it and thought that it was funny,” Middleton said. “Also, Sassy and Lee agreed to act in the skit.”
Juniors Sara Frances “Sassy” Neuman and Lee Donahue were focal points in the reveal video. Harrison Inman is another junior who is on the Prom Committee, and he was involved in the skit that was used at the reveal. Inman gives us the inside scoop on how the committee prepares for Prom.
“We all sit together and we all get a say and all think of a theme together,” Inman said. “It is just really amazing, we all get a say and we work really well together.”
The decorations for the Prom need to fully express and give off the desire to truly be an “Enchanted Garden.” Middleton expresses how she thinks the Johnson should be decorated.
“I think that the Johnson will be decorated with a lot of vines and lanterns,” Middleton said. “I believe that these decorations will help the Johnson feel like an Enchanted Garden.”
Inman shares in details how he thinks that the decorations need to truly be magical, to embrace the aspect of “Enchanted Garden.”
“I think that the decorations will reflect the theme very well,” Inman said. “We are going to do our best to transform the Johnson and make it more floral and make the night magical, especially for the seniors. This night just needs to be super special for them.”
Inman expresses why he thinks that this year’s theme is better then the previous year’s prom themes.
“I do think the theme is good, because we have gone realistic with the Gatsby theme and last year the Cloud 9 was good too,” Inman said. ‘This year, I think the theme is more grounded and it’s not too out of the box or too crazy. Since it is so common it will be easy for us to find really good decorations and make this really special.“
