The orchestra performed downtown at the DeSoto Theatre on April 22. This was a big and important performance for the Orchestra, which put a lot of time and effort into its pieces. This group of individuals is an important part of the fine art community. Sophomore Brooke Temple is a cello player who has been playing for the majority of his life. The orchestra group bonds over the performances throughout the year, meeting new people and teachers.
“I enjoy playing the cello with my friends, and especially like my good buddy Jay Watters. It’s an interesting instrument and fun to play,” Temple said.
The orchestra puts a lot of time and dedication into their work and received the opportunity to play at the DeSoto. This is a great opportunity for the orchestra to participate and play.
“Playing downtown was cool and fun because we got to show off our work, we practiced in a big and new place,” Temple said.
Freshman Wren Booker plays the violin and discusses the preparation needed for this performance.
“We practiced with like the whole orchestra band, and we had to prepare to perform classical music,” Booker said.
Every member in the orchestra has a certain significance to the group. There are several different instruments and opportunities for students to get involved and perform with the orchestra, and they all have importance and value.
“There are only so many of us, so I contribute to the orchestra by playing violin,” Booker said.
Being able to perform at the DeSoto is a privilege for anyone and is a unique opportunity for all. Temple talks about the experience in the DeSoto. Being able to perform with your friends is also an awesome experience.
“Wonderful performance, great atmosphere, I felt quite professional. Having the spot light on me was awesome,” Temple said. “It’s also really good because you do not want to have to be alone playing. It’s always fun to have friends to play with. It just makes the overall experience of playing so much better.”
