On Wednesday, Nov. 1, several students from Darlington School participated in the first part of The Kennesaw State University Math Competition.
The Kennesaw State University Math Competition is a state competition set in Georgia. The competition itself is sponsored by the Department of Mathematics, the College of Science and Mathematics, and Kennesaw State University. This competition occurs annually around Autumn with every private and public school in Georgia receiving information about it by mid-September. This year’s competition is split into two parts. Part one occurs on Nov. 1, 2023. Part two will occur on January 30, 2024.
Students have had mixed opinions about the difficulty of the math competition.
“To me, it’s really hard,” freshman Michelle Xiong said, “but I’ve heard from others that they think it’s really easy.”
Students’ attitudes about the competition are generally positive, with many students seeing it as a learning opportunity.
“It’s just practice for me,” Xiong said, “because this is the first time I’ve been in a math competition”.
