The volleyball team faced Mount Bethel Sept. 24 but unfortunately lost 3-0.

The beginning of the game started out strong with all players making good plays.

“The first set we played was actually pretty good, other than the fact that we lost it. Lots of players stepped up, and we had lots of kills which gave us a lead,” sophomore Sarah Tunnell said.

The girls ended up losing the first set.

“Even though the first set we played well, Mount Bethel came out on top. The first set’s score was actually pretty close, but we let up during the end,” junior Grace Garlinghouse said.

Despite the loss from the first set, the team played the next two with a clear head.

“After we lost the first set, we just all wanted to forget about it and fix our mistakes,” Tunnell said. “We focused more on talking and making smart plays and wanted to play hard no matter the outcome.”

Darlington lost the following two sets as well.

“Even though we wanted a clear mindset, we still let the outcome of the first game get to us. Mount Bethel started to get a big lead on us and we let up,” Tunnell said. “We just really needed to communicate more and work together as a team.”

The girls took away from this game and hope to end their season strong.

“Going into the next game, we all just really want to do better. Our main issue was talking, and we’ve been working a lot on that since. We have grown and improved a lot since the beginning. The season is almost over, and we just want to play better and end on a high note,” Garlinghouse said.
