#RUMPUS2016: Build It

On day two of RUMPUS 2016, ‘Build It’ took place on the Quad at 3 p.m.

There was energy and screaming from all six houses, and as the chariots were racing around the Quad. People were continuously running from one side of the lawn to the other to cheer on the racers.

“I enjoyed being in it, even though I was thrown into it. It was really fun to build it, paint it and race it,” Jack Druckenmiller (Moser) said.

Several people liked the changes made to this event this year.

“I think the chariot race was better because it was more organized, so it allowed us to be more creative,” Philip Woford (Summerbell) said.

Unlike in past years, this year the chariots were built beforehand rather than during the event, and the race took place within the Quad only instead of the Cove and the Quad.

“I thought it was nice to see because this is more relaxed and you get more time to build it beforehand. You could see the whole race this year and it was much better as a whole school,” Jamila Wood (Regester) said.

During the time before the scores were announced, while everyone waited, all of the houses circled up and sang the alma mater.

Build It was scored based on three categories: time, spirit, and design. An overall score was then calculated. The results for the event were:

Boys:

1st place- Moser

2nd place- Summerbell

3rd place- Neville

Girls:

1st place- Cooper

2nd place- Regester

3rd place- Thornwood
“I’m happy that we won. The motivation in Cooper really helped,” Dara Sodipo (Cooper) said.
