#RUMPUS2016: Overview

%23RUMPUS2016%3A+Overview

This year’s RUMPUS was very exciting.

Friday included Hunger Games and Lip Sync. There was a change from Fear Factor to Hunger Games, which warranted mixed responses. Many students liked it better this way (especially the participants); however, many others thought Fear Factor was more entertaining. Many believe that to improve this event next year, there should be either one more person or one less plate to make Hunger Games more manageable. Also, there were student complaints of male teachers helping with girls’ houses and to really make a girls’ versus girls’ event fair, all of the participants need to be female. Another common suggestion from our student body is for there to be an audience vote for Lip Sync, as well as the judges’ vote, to make it more fair.

Saturday included RUMPUS Relay, DarFued, Build It, and Dodgeball. This year, Trivia changed to DarFued. Most people liked the change to Trivia because it allowed more people to be involved because of the survey and was more competitive. Build It also changed this year and the responses were mixed. Some have noted that there should be more guidelines next year and a longer course.

There were three mini games this year including two basketball games and a card search during Gauntlet. From our poll, we were able to see that a substantial amount of students thought that the cards were too hard to find and kept people away from cheering on their teams because they were trying to find the cards.

Sunday included Gauntlet, but this year, there was no closing ceremony. It’s safe to say many people were disappointed by the anti-climatic finish to RUMPUS and wished that there had been some more hype about revealing the winner.

The result for RUMPUS 2016 were:

First place-Summerbell (39 points)

Second place-Moser (35 points)

Third place-Regester and Thornwood (34 points)

Fifth place-Cooper (31 points)

Sixth place-Neville (25 points)
