Course Fair

As we approach the end of the year, seniors prepare to say farewell to some of their close friends and favorite teachers they’ve had throughout their Darlington career. They prepare to take on new challenges and maybe meet lifelong friends at college next year. For the underclassmen, however, it’s different. At this time in the year, the underclassmen prepare to choose classes for the next year.

The course fair is a time during iPeriod for underclassmen talk to teachers to decide which courses they need or want to take and see if it is a good fit for them for the following school year.

“I think the course fair has been a great part of the course selection process,”  junior Ashley Hankinson said. “Like I want to go take AP stats and get my business degree in college, so it’s nice that I can talk to the teacher and see what i’m getting myself into beforehand.”

Underclassmen don’t only think about taking courses that will improve their college application, but also just courses that they think they will enjoy for the following year.

“I’m thinking about taking sports psychology next year,” Junior Ben Doig said. “I’m a really big fan of sports in general, so I think it would just be a class filled with topics that I’ll probably be interested in learning more about.”

Although seniors don’t have to worry about picking classes for Darlington next year, they still recommended classes that underclassmen should consider taking next year.

“I would say AP Environmental Science because Mr. Kinney is awesome and so passionate about the subject matter. He even makes dirt sound interesting,” senior Ansley Mccoy said. I’d also recommend AP Comparative Government because the class offers students a unique perspective on the world.”

Usually, students try to encourage others to take low stress classes, but some underclassmen have a different mindset of the goals they wish to achieve next year.

“I want to take Geometry honors next year,”  freshman Leah Grace said. “I really like math,, so I want to take a class that really challenges me next year.”
